Fashion people will flock to Palm Springs in April for two back-to-back weekends of music, parties and general debauchery at Coachella — and just one month later, they'll all have a reason to head right back. Nicolas Ghesquière has chosen the chic desert city as the location for Louis Vuitton's resort show on May 6, a rep for the brand has confirmed. The event falls just days before Dior's resort show on May 9, which is conveniently located a short road trip away in Los Angeles.These destination shows are becoming a regular feature for Ghesquière, who showed last year's resort collection in Monaco. He's also the latest in a string of top-tier designers, including Tom Ford and Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane, who are giving the West Coast serious cred as the next major fashion capital. Plus, considering Palm Springs's proximity to Hollywood (and the aforementioned Dior show), we're expecting a number of the designer's famous muses to be in attendance.
Sorry Coachella, but we're thinking this might be the most stylish event the desert has seen in quite some time.
